Bawku Police embark on special motor checking exercise

Bawku (U/E), July 28, GNA - Twenty-three persons put before the Bawku circuit court for motorbike offences have been fined amounts between 30 and 300 Ghana cedis or in default serve a jail term of three years. Police Sergeant Raphael Azanyitiga said the convicts were arrested on July 5 and put before court the next day to serve as a warning to traffi= c offenders. In line with this, the police in Bawku have embarked on a special exercise to arrest motorbike riders for not wearing crash helmets and use o= f unregistered motorbikes, he said. Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Adamu Seidu, Bawku Divisional Crime Officer, expressed concern at the high rate of indiscipline on the roads.
