Bawku Security Committee prepare grounds for yuletide

Bawku (UE), Dec. 10, GNA - Mr Abduliah Musah, Bawku Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) on Thursday said the Municipal Security Committee had put in place pragmatic strategies to maintain peace and order in the area. He said the measures were necessary especially during the yuletide as well as the celebration of the annual Samapeid and Damba festivals. Mr Musah who was speaking to the Ghana News Agency in Bawku said the municipality was enjoying relative peace because the people had realised that it was the only tool that could be used in attaining development. He commended the youth for co-operating with stakeholders to bring about lasting peace to the area and urged them to maintain the spirit because the future of Bawku depended largely on them.

The MCE down played public perception that Bawku was a war zone and nothing good could come from the area and asked investors, to ignore the wrong signals and strive to do business with the municipality. He said the area was endowed with business potentials since it shared borders with two neighbouring countries; Togo and Burkina Faso and generates the highest revenue in the country.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Kweku Buadu Peprah, Municipal Police Commander said measures were in place to prevent the breech of the peace in the area. He called for logistics to assist the police to perform its duties.
