Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Thursday broke ground for the construction of concrete roads in Ghana, at Tema.

The project according to the Vice President forms part of the transformational vision of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The Vice President in a Facebook post said; ‘’ This morning, I broke ground for the construction of concrete roads in Ghana, at Tema.

Ghana’s first major concrete road was constructed in the 1960s during our first Republic by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah to link the harbor city Tema, and Accra. The road has survived more than its design life of Forty years.

Today as part of the transformational vision of His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, we are repeating history with the beginning of another major agenda for the construction of concrete roads in Tema.

Compared to other types of pavement and road construction, concrete roads last much longer and are cheaper in the long run. The project will be undertaken by two local firms.

I appealed to all road users and stakeholders to desist from activities which would be detrimental to the life span of our roads.’’
