Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has been described a lost sheep roving in a political party which is alien to the family he comes from.

Johnson Asiedu Nketia claimed political ownership of Dr. Bawumia on Okay FM, stating in clear terms that he was the “NDC’s asset”.

According to him, any doubting Thomas could do a background check on Nana Akufo-Addo’s vice and find out whether his father (Alhaji Mumuni Bawumia), brother (Chief Dauda Mandiaya Bawumia), wife (Samira Ramadan) and majority of his family members are not staunch NDC members.

“I hope you know his father and his whole family are behind the NDC?” he asked.

Speaking on behalf of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketia denounced attempts to take the life of Dr. Bawumia, explaining that “in an unlikely event that Dr. Bawumia dies, it would have an unpleasant effect on Ghana”.

He called on Dr. Bawumia to return to the political party he belongs to since the NPP was maltreating him and using him as a “stooge”.

“Nana Addo told the whole nation that the reason he picked Dr. Bawumia and not any of the party’s front runners was that he doesn’t want to give any of them a head start in politics.

"He explained that he can’t afford to give any of the front runners an opportunity to challenge him when he loses an election. This clearly shows that Nana Addo knows Bawumia isn’t an insider and based on that he could control and direct him anytime he wants,” Asiedu Nketia said.

“He wasn’t into politics and we all know what happened when Nana Addo handpicked him for the vice presidential slot. We were all around when the NPP executives told Nana Addo his vice wasn’t from the NPP stock; on the very day his name was mentioned as Nana Addo’s vice, some people in the NPP raised objections and threatened to quit the party,” he recalled.
