Senior Advisor to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia Kwabena Agyepong, has shared insights into what he believes makes Bawumia a transformative figure in Ghanaian politics.

“Dr. Bawumia is poised to usher in a new era in Ghanaian politics,” Agyepong declared, emphasizing the candidate’s unique background and life experiences that inform his leadership

In a discussion on Okay FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Agyepong began by recounting Bawumia’s modest beginnings, highlighting his origins in Walewale and his upbringing in Tamale. “He attended one of Ghana’s most underprivileged schools, which gives him a unique perspective on the journey from obscurity to prominence,” he noted. This narrative, according to Agyepong, illustrates Bawumia’s resilience and determination to succeed against the odds.

Delving deeper into Bawumia’s family background, Agyepong shared a personal detail that sheds light on the candidate’s character. “His father had nineteen children, of which seventeen are currently living,” he explained, emphasizing the sense of responsibility and community that comes from such a large family. This upbringing, he argued, has instilled in Bawumia a deep understanding of the challenges faced by ordinary Ghanaians.

A significant aspect of Bawumia’s upbringing is his family’s religious diversity, which Agyepong highlighted as a crucial factor in shaping the candidate’s worldview. “His mother was a Christian who attended the Methodist Church before converting to Islam after marrying Bawumia’s father,” he revealed. This interfaith background, according to Agyepong, enriches Bawumia’s approach to governance and his commitment to unity in a diverse nation.

In this context, Agyepong emphasized that Bawumia’s education encompassed both the Quran and the Bible. “His political stance is not solely aligned with Christians for electoral gain but reflects his genuine commitment to religious tolerance,” he stated, reinforcing the idea that Bawumia’s policies would be inclusive and considerate of Ghana’s multifaceted society.
