A former Deputy General Secretary of the ruling New Patriotic Party, Nana Obiri Boahen, has urged Ghanaians to vote overwhelmingly for the party's flagbearer, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the upcoming December 7, 2024, election.

Obiri Boahen made these remarks during an interview on Wontumi Radio/TV over the weekend, stating that Ghanaians, irrespective of their political affiliations, must vote for Dr. Bawumia because he is the only person who can transform the country.

He asserted that the only reason Ghana remains a poor country, despite its abundant natural resources, is because the country has not had a leader who has set the right priorities.

He added that the vice president is the only person who could implement policies and programmes to lift the country out of poverty.

"Please, my brothers and my sisters, everybody listening to me, whether you support the NDC or NPP, vote for Dr. Bawumia. Don't say that you would not get anything if you go and vote. Vote for Dr. Bawumia.

"... Ghana should not be a poor country. If our priorities are set right, Ghanaians would not be poor," he said in the Twi dialect.

He continued, "And the only person who can move us to the promised land is Bawumia. It is universally acknowledged that there is something good in him. Look at the way he speaks and his actions."

The former Deputy General Secretary also praised Dr. Bawumia for his promise to make tertiary education free for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs).

He added that the vice president's vision is feasible and a precursor to making it free for every Ghanaian.
