After being laid in state at the forecourt of the State House and buried at Achimota Cemetery, Saturday, a special Thanksgiving Service was on Sunday February 5, 2017 held for the late Kwabena Boadu, Special Aide to Vice President, Dr. Alhaji Mahamudu Bawumia at Bethel Methodist Church, Taifa.
The occasion saw in attendance the second gentleman of the land together with his wife, Samira Bawumia, some executives as well as members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Kwabena Boadu, born in 1986 was on the morning of November 24, 2016 found dead in his hotel room in Wa after the party’s rally in the Upper West region.
He was part of a travelling contingent of the party’s campaign team that had toured the Volta, Eastern, Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions.
Dr. Bawumia has described him as an ‘unassuming and intelligent’ young man who never relented on his efforts.
"Kwabena was not only my Press Aide; he became my friend, political advisor, strategist, speechwriter, confidant and young brother. He did so much but always shunned the limelight... Kwabena was a major part of the NPP and President Nana Akufo-Addo's victory in the 2016 election," he said.
