The Member of Parliament for Akim Abuakwa South, Samuel Atta Akyea, has urged Ghanaians to support the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, in the pending 2024 general elections, believing he can transform the nation's fortunes.
He emphasised that Bawumia's economic expertise would implement effective measures to alleviate the people's hardships if he becomes president.
Atta Akyea assured that Dr. Bawumia's leadership would not be a "secondhand" approach to running Ghana, but rather a more effective governance.
In an interview with GhanaWeb during the NPP manifesto launch in Takoradi on August 18, 2024, Atta Akyea encouraged Ghanaians to vote for Dr. Bawumia, highlighting his economic background as crucial for the nation's transformation.
"I'm very confident that with Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia competing against former president Mahama, people are focusing on the economy. If you have a toothache, do you go to a carpenter or a dentist? This is the first time in our history we will have a president who is an economist.
"But it is not going to be a secondhand way of running. The economy is going to hold the steel and take us to where we should go. We should give him that space," he said.
NPP members have gathered in Takoradi to unveil their manifesto to the public ahead of the 2024 general elections.
