Be security conscious during the World Cup season - DCOP Bio-Atinga

Accra, June 9, GNA - DCOP Rose Bio-Atinga, Greater Accra Regional Police Commander, has cautioned Ghanaians to be security conscious and wa ry of criminals who would capitalise on the up-coming World Cup Tournament t o carry out their nefarious activities.

She urged personnel of Ghana Police Service to be extra vigilant dur ing the tournament in order to forestall any violence and disorder that might be caused by perpetrators with criminal intent. DCOP Bio-Atinga was speaking at the 42nd Inspector General of Police 's (IGP) Parade in Accra on Wednesday. The concept of IGP's Parade was incepted last year by IGP Paul Tawia h Quaye to enable police personnel to respond rapidly to their duty in a mo re vibrant and well co-ordinated manner. It is being replicated in all the regions, on every Wednesday of the

week. The parade saw selected police personnel exhibiting their profession al prowess as they marched and wielded their weapons with dexterity in synchrony to the performance of the police brass band at the admiration o f all. DCOP Bio-Atinga observed that the parade served as a 'professional drill' which was critical to instil discipline in the police personnel, a

quality that was essential in the service.

She urged the personnel to be circumspective and exhibit high sense of professionalism and discipline in discharging their duties. In a related development, the management of Zepto Computer and LCD T V and Computers Limited donated eight Liquid Crystal Display television set s valued at GH¢20,000 to the Police Service. Mr Ole De Leeneer, Chief Executive Officer of the company, said the donation was to enable the personnel to watch the up-coming World Cup Tournament during their leisure. Receiving the items on behalf of the service, DCOP Ofosu Mensah Gyeabour, Director General in-charge of Welfare, expressed gratitude to management of the company and urged other companies to emulate them.
