Ketan (W/R), Dec. 23, GNA - Mr. Joe Ghartey, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, said Ghanaians should celebrate the Christmas festivities but must be vigilant, courageous and assist the police to expose criminals.

He said the success of any security operation in arresting suspected criminals were through a collaborative effort of the citizenry and the security apparatus.

Mr. Ghartey, the Member of Parliament for Essikadu-Ketan Constituency, said this at a constituency delegates' conference of the NPP at Ketan on Saturday.

He assured Ghanaians that the government had taken security measures to make the celebrations peaceful adding, "securing all entry points in the country would be intensified."

Mr. Ghartey said the persistent demand by constituents on the MPs, and other ministers of state must change.

"If the pressure increases, many of public office holders would be compelled to adopt illegal means to meet these demands." Mr. Ghartey reminded them that it would be too disgraceful to hear that their representatives in public service have resorted to illegal means of making money.

Mr. Eric Obeng, Essikadu-Ketan Constituency Secretary of the NPP, said that the demand for projects was increasing daily. He said that the constituency needed a vehicle and other logistics to make their activities effective.

Some 100 polling station chairpersons were presented with half piece of cloth each for their dedication to duty.
