Be wary of egoistic appointees; Group tells Mahama

Members of the Upper West communication group of the National Democratic Congress (DC) have appealed to President John Mahama to be wary of lobbyists around him.

Though they failed to mention names, they said the president must put his feet on the ground and nominate people he thinks will best serve the interest of the people and not people who will only come to satisfy their egos to the neglect of the youth.

The convener of the group, Abdul Rahman Osman Babs made the statement at a press conference organized in Wa and attended by all its members.

‘‘We have done the battle. The benefit or otherwise of this battle depends on leadership. May Allah prevent any leader who will come and polarize the region. We need a leader who will come and bring us together as one people. With good leadership, we are optimistic; the 2016 elections will be more victorious for the NDC,’’ they added.

They thanked president Mahama for nominating the acting Upper West Regional Minister and Member of Parliament for the Sissala West constituency as the Minister designate for Roads and Highways with the firm conviction that he will work assiduously to help rehabilitate deplorable roads in the region and the country.

They also pleaded with the president to let his mercies still fall on the region by considering some of the sons and daughters of the Upper West Region in his government.

They also used the opportunity to thank President Mahama on his victory in the just ended presidential elections.

They stated the victory of president Mahama is anchored on his truthfulness, humility, steadfastness, tolerance among others, adding the president’s feat is a clear manifestation that it is only God who determines a leader.

Mr. Abdul-Rahman, however took a swipe at the NPP, saying their ill motive in the aftermath of the 2012 general elections is source of worry not only to the nation but to the international community as well.

He appealed to the NPP to do the country a favor by conceding defeat and move out of the Supreme Court.

‘‘Their actions and inactions with regard to the 2012 general elections is not only inimical to the peace and stability that the nation is currently enjoying but also [will] destroy the good image of Ghana’’, they concluded.
