Kumasi, April 27, GNA - The youth wing of the National Democratic congress (NDC) in Ashanti has appealed to the Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to ensure adequate security measures to prevent confusion during the voters' photo-taking exercise in the Kumasi metropolis. Making the appeal through the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi on Tuesday, Mr Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, the Regional Youth Organiser, said his party had received reports that some people were planning to disrupt the exercise particularly, in the Zongo communities.
"Much as we would want to believe that this is not true, we cannot simply ignore or discount it".
He said it was only proper that authorities in-charge of security of the region were alerted so that they are not overtaken by events. Mr Obimpeh asked followers of the various political parties to "be more responsible in their conduct and play strictly according to the rules".
He noted that party politics was essentially about development of the people and for that matter, politicians should stop behaving as if they were at war with one another.
"Let us recognise that we all have a duty to ensure the sustenance of the peace and growth of the country's democracy".
