The Member of Parliament for the Ketu South Constituency, Dzifa Gomashie has urged Ghanaians to vote for the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, in the pending elections.

According to her, the Akufo-Addo-led administration has brought untoward hardship on Ghanaians.

She said despite the Planting for Food and Jobs programme implemented by the NPP government to increase food production, ensure food security, and reduce food importation, food prices continue to escalate.

In a post shared on her Facebook page on Saturday, August 10, 2024, she appealed to the party executives in her constituency to remind first-time voters to do a simple comparison of what the NDC offered and what the current alternative has brought Ghanaians.

"I have been in my constituency meeting my heroes and ‘sheroes’ in the 5 zones. The branch executive members have assured me that come rain or shine they are with me and the PREMIER, H.E. JDM.

“I reminded them to tell the first time voters that in 2016 when we didn't have PLANTING FOR FOOD AND JOBS, one olonka of gari used to GH¢5.00 now it is GH¢30.00, one bucket of fresh tomatoes used to be GH¢8.00 now it is sold at GH¢120.00.

“One broiler was GH¢45.00 now it is GH¢220. One crate of eggs used to be GH¢12.00 now it is GH¢70.00. One 5kg Gino Rice was GH¢25.00 now it is GH¢165.00, 5kg Lele Rice was GH¢18.00 now it is GH¢125.00 and one Cindy Rice was GH¢ 10.00 now it is GH¢100,” she stated.

She also spoke about how prices of sanitary products and the taxes on them have rocketed in the period under review.

She added that it because of the stubbornness of the government that things like this have persisted.

"Sanitary towels. Yazz used to be GH¢2.50 now it is GH¢18.00, Always used to GH¢4.00 now it is GH¢30.00 and Softcare used to be GH¢3.50 now it is GH¢18.00 because of the obnoxious taxes and the stubbornness of this government," she added.

She said party executives in her constituency are gearing up to support the party's campaign to ensure a successful outcome in the pending elections, which she termed to 'RESET' Ghana.

"They are ready to assist ADG and JM to RESET!" she noted.
