Ben Ephson downplays Africa Watch

Political Performance Index

A renowned pollster and the

Managing Editor of the Daily Dispatch, Ben Ephson, has said that the

recent ratings of the Members of Parliament by the African Watch Magazine

should be taken with a pinch of salt since one could not arrive at the way and

manner the Magazine managed to rate the performance of the MPs.

Ben Ephson outlined the

procedures that could validate the grading of the Parliamentarians' performance.

He stated that it pinches on any entity that devotes itself to assessing the

performance of government officials to do an intensive work before any accurate

rating can be undertaken. According to him, the Magazine could authenticate its

ratings of the MPs when it thoroughly indulges in every facet of the

proceedings at Parliament and constituency activities of the MPs.

"First, if you want to judge a

Member of Parliament, you have to spend time in the constituency to find out

the work that he has done in the constituency. Most of the time, the MPs are in

parliament so you have to spend considerable time there to be able to assess

and grade his performance," he pinpointed.

Ben Ephson speaking to Xfm's Morning show host, Abena Asiedua,

on the Big bite show today indicated

that it is impossible for an organization to rate the MPs without any thorough

involvement in the activities they engage in.

He therefore issued a word of

caution to the Ministers and MPs who have been rated an 'A' not to clad

themselves in complacency since the African Watch ratings do not reflect in the

general elections.
