Beposo (Ash) Feb. 10, GNA - The Beposo Traditional Council in the Sekyere West District has introduced some measures to reduce funeral expenses in the traditional area. Under the regulations, family memb ers are not allowed to buy special cloth for funerals neither are they allowed serving special food during funeral celebrations.
The Omanhene of Beposo Traditional area, Nana Boamah Kwabi IV, told newsmen at Beposo that the body of a resident citizen who died in the town should not be deposited in a morgue for more than one week before burial.
However, no restriction is imposed on the period for burial of citizens who died outside the town.
According to the Omanhene, family gathering on the seventh-day funeral rites to discuss funeral arrangements is not restricted but it should be solemnly done without playing music or drumming, erection of canopy or serving any type of drink.
He explained that the measures put in place by the council are part of a decision taken by the Asanteman Council and would be implemented throughout the Asanteman Traditional Area.
Some Beposo citizens interviewed welcomed the regulations and expressed the hope that the measures would be applied diligently without discrimination against any family irrespective of status.
