Best Teacher receives 280 million cedis

Accra, Dec. 15, GNA - The National Best Teacher for 2004, Ms Charlotte Azurago was on Wednesday presented with a cheque for 280 million cedis being the value of the three-bedroom apartment as her prize.

Presenting the cheque to Ms Azurago on behalf of the Minister of Education, Youth and Sports, the Director of Finance and Administration, Mr H.D. Clerk said the absence of the Sector Minister was due to his tight schedule at Parliament House and conveyed the Minister's message of congratulations to her.

Ms Azurago, formerly of the St. Francis Lwanga Catholic Primary School at Zebilla in the Bawku West District of the Upper East Region, and now a level 100 student of the University of Education, Winneba thanked the Ministry for presenting her with the cheque.

She called on teachers to work harder than before in spite of the numerous problems they encountered in the discharge of their duties. Those present included family members of Ms Azurago and some officials of the Ministry.
