Best-disabled farmer awarded at Nkwanta

Nkwanta, Dec. 29, GNA Dora Denu, a 52 year old totally blind woman was adjudged the best disabled farmer during the Nkwanta District Farmers Day held at Nkwanta. For her prize, Dora received two cutlasses, a pair of Wellington boots and two bars of key soap. Madam Denu was picked as the best among five disabled short-listed. Mr Jeffery Ankudey, an Agricultural Technical Officer, in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkwanta said madam Denu came tops as a result of hard work. He said Madam Denu had a 1.2-hectare cassava farm, part of which was inter-cropped with maize. Mr Ankudey said Madam Denu also had a vegetable farm and weeds her farms herself. He said the best farmer also practices very good "farm hygiene". Mr Ankudey said Madam Denu besides farming, processed cassava into gari, doing the grating manually herself.
