Between NDC, NPP, there's no virgin at the maternity ward - Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah

Dr. Benjamin Otchere-Ankrah has advised participants in the ongoing limited registration exercise by the Electoral Commission to shun any illegality and violence.

The Electoral Commission commenced the registration exercise on Tuesday, May 7, and it is expected to end on Monday, May 20.

EC Chairperson, Jean Mensa, who announced this at a media briefing in Accra, said the 21-day exercise will be conducted in 785 electoral areas and 25 public universities in the country.

The EC projects to register 623,000 new registrants for the exercise, augmenting the 910,000 new registrants registered in 2023.

Speaking on Peace FM's morning show, Dr. Otchere-Ankrah warned against registering minors.

He urged parents and guardians not to allow politicians to use their children, who are not eligible to vote, to participate in the exercise, stressing that such behavior will encourage "minors to become thieves in the future."

The Governance lecturer at Central University asked parents, guardians, and children not to fall for the tricks of politicians and also admonished both the New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress not to manipulate or disrupt the exercise.

"Unfortunately, between the NDC and NPP, there is no virgin at the maternity ward," he stated, advising all persons of eligible age to "go and patiently register your name."
