Entertainment pundit Lawrence Nana Asiamah Hanson, popularly known as Bullgod, has raised concerns about claims made by NPP flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia regarding his role in government.

Bullgod has dismissed the assertion that Bawumia has been unable to play a key role in President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo's administration due to his vice-presidential position.

He argued that the driver-mate analogy Bawumia is using to persuade Ghanaians is flawed, as a mate typically has more control in a public transport vehicle than the driver.

Speaking on United Showbiz, aired on UTV on October 5, 2024, Bullgod criticised Dr. Bawumia for appealing to Ghanaians to give him the opportunity to prove his worth.

“He has been begging Ghanaians to try him. Bawumia is embarking on a house-to-house campaign telling people to give him the steer. The slogan does not even make sense. Let me ask, between a trotro driver and a mate, who has control of the car?

“The driver just drives, and the mate controls everything else, including where passengers will alight, handling monetary issues, and others. When they want power, they do all sorts of things, but after they win, they don’t even want the people to approach them with challenges. What is the sense in this?” he quizzed in Twi.

It’s worth noting that during Bawumia’s first major speech as the NPP flagbearer at the UPSA auditorium in Accra, he described himself as the "mate" of the bus, emphasising that if elected president, he would take the driver’s seat with the authority to pursue his vision and priorities.
