New Edubiase (Ash), Aug 29, GNA - Choristers have been advised not only to sing to entertain but to evangelise for more souls to Jesus Christ. Right Reverend Benjamin Kwabena Asare, Methodist Bishop of Obuasi, who gave the advice, said music was a powerful tool to draw people to God and therefore, charged choristers to complement the efforts of Ministers of the Gospel.
He was speaking on the theme, "Doubling Our membership, The Role of Church Choirs" at the biennial conference of the Obuasi Diocesan Methodist Church Choirs at New Edubiase on Sunday. Rt Rev.Asare called on the choristers to be good ambassadors of the Gospel by leading morally upright and exemplary lives to attract more people to the church.
He expressed disgust at the behaviour of some choristers who indulged in sexual relationships with other choristers, adding "the church is a sacred place to worship God and such immoral acts should not be allowed to desecrate the church". Rt Rev Asare warned choristers to desist from alcoholic beverages before attending programmes organised by the church.
