The leadership and entire membership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the various levels have been advised to be cautious of moles who pretend to champion the course of the party in its quest to wrestle political power.
Mr. Awudu Haruna Sunrise, chairman of the Three Northern Regions NPP Activists (TNRA), an organization of NPP supporters of Northern extraction, said the party needed a formidable front to work in unity to achieve its objective of winning power at the 2016 elections.
According to him, with a solid leadership in the Presidential candidate and the Vice Presidential candidate backed by a dedicated national and regional executives, it was expected of members and sympathizers to commit themselves to the course and ideals of the party.
Mr. Haruna Sunrise has congratulated the party’s flagbearer and assured him that the TNRA, which has over 5,000 members across the country, would embark on a vigorous nationwide campaign to ensure that the NPP win power in 2016.
The TNRA chairman said the group has also appointed a 19 member communication team from the various northern languages to propagate the ideals of the party during the electioneering campaign period for the 2016 elections.
The tribes represented by spokespersons appointed by the TRNA include; Chokosi, Sissala, Bimoba, Wala, Frafra, Moshie, Kusasi, Grussi and Busanga. The rest are Dagomba, Bulisa, Grumah, Basare, Dagarti, Gonja, Kokomba, Mamprusi, Banda and Asante.
Meanwhile, Chairman Sunrise has cautioned members of the public to be wary of the activities of a breakaway group who go by the same name with a different motto. He said the original TNRA has “True Supporters” as its motto while a rival group, which claims to be the Ashanti regional branch of TNRA, with Luckman Akologo and Christopher Akpasin as chairman and secretary respectively, has its motto as “The real supporters”.
The chairman explained that members of the public who deal with any group or individuals who claim to be associated with TNRA, other than the original TRNA, duly registered with the Registrar General’s department since February 11, 2011, to campaign for the NPP in compliance with section 27 and 28 of the Companies Code Act 179 of 1963, do so at their own risk.
He said the original TNRA is recognized by the office of the National chairman and the Ashanti Regional Nasara Wing of the NPP, as well as the Ashanti Regional executives who have allocated a space for the group’s weekly meetings every Friday afternoon (2pm-4pm) at the Regional Secretariat of the NPP.
Mr. Sunrise has also drawn the attention of the leadership of the party to the demotion of Mr. Ibrahim Mohammed as Assistant Organiser of the group since April 7, 2013. He said Mr. Ayoma Adene has since May 23, 2012 ceased to be the National Organiser of TNRA, following a disciplinary action against him.
Mr. Joseph Amongya and Mr. Williams Baba Sulley, PRO and Adviser respectively indicated that TNRA is committed to changing the mindset of constituents of the three Northern regions resident across the country that NPP is a party for Southerners.
They said the groups is about to embark on door-to-door campaign in the Zongo communities to explain pressing party issues in the manifesto of the party.
