Bibiani gets new District Chief Executive

Bibiani (W/R), April 28, GNA - Members of the Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai District Assembly have approved the nomination of Mr Moses Kofi Armah, a chemist, as the new District chief Executive (DCE). He polled 43 out of 44 votes cast in an election organised by the assembly at its meeting at Bibiani, on Monday. The assembly also elected Mr Agyapong Okumawuo, a 53-year-old teacher, as the presiding member. His contender, Mr James Acheampong, had to step down to give way to Mr Okumawuo, who failed to get the two-thirds of the members of the assembly at an earlier voting. The election was supervised by Mr Stephen Opoku-Mensah, the Western Regional Electoral Officer.

Mr Osei Kofi Amoako, Bibiani District Magistrate, swore in the presiding member and the 15 government appointees into office. In his acceptance speech, Mr Armah expressed gratitude to President Mills and the assembly members for the confidence reposed in him. The DCE said he saw the position as a challenge and would unite the people for accelerated development of the district. The new presiding member, on his part, promised to unite members of the assembly no matter their political affiliation.
