Many of us would have thought that the bouts of corruption reported in Ghana are way outside the presidency but policy think-tank IMANI Ghana thinks otherwise.

According to the president, Franklin Cudjoe, most if not all corruption scandals in Ghana stem from the seat of government. Mr Cudjoe posits that “IMANI folks have always said that the biggest public corruption nut to crack is procurement shenanigans. And it must start from the Presidency, where by our experience the biggest scams are cooked.”

Franklin Cudjoe is therefore of the view that the establishment of a special prosecutor by government is a waste of time since the very persons government will be investigating are its own colleagues in the presidency.

So far, a bill for the establishment of this office has been forwarded to parliament with a passage expected to be successful as president Akufo-Addo has resolved to ensure that the office leads up to the expectation of ending corruption in government once and for all.
