Bimbilla (N/R), 11 June The Ghana Police Service is to establish a second police depot in Tamale to cater for the manpower needs of the Northern sector for efficient enforcement of law and order. An anti-riot mobile force will be formed in Tamale, Kumasi, Takoradi and Ho. Mr Peter Tinganaba Nanfuri, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), announced this at Bimbilla in the Nanumba District yesterday during a visit to police duty posts within the ethnic conflict areas of the Northern Region. The IGP who stopped over at Salaga, Bimbilla, Chamba and Nakpayili used the visits to interact with the chiefs and people and stressed the need for peace and reconciliation. He said his administration will take measures to stem the growing lawlessness in the region, warning that mob attacks on the police will not go unpunished again. Mr Nanfuri hoped that the peace that has returned to the area would pave the way for development.
