Birim Central MCE presents mono-desks to schools

The Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Mr. Kwabena Bempong has presented 393 mono-desks at a cost of Ghc 98, 250 to the Attafuah and St. Francis Senior High Schools in Oda to facilitate teaching and learning in the second cycle Institutions.

The presentation, second in this year, brings to a total number of 1093 desks presented by Mr. Bempong to schools across the Birim Central Municipality. The total value of the furniture is Ghc 238,250 and from the Assembly’s share of the District Development Fund (DDF).

According to him the donation forms part of government decision to expand access to facilities in schools to make teaching and learning comfortable particularly with the Free Senior High School policy introduced by President Akufo-Addo.

Mr. Bempong called for the culture of maintenance to ensure that the furniture last long.

He announced that more projects had been earmarked by the Assembly to raise the standard of education in the area.

After receiving the furniture, the headmaster of Attafuah Senior High School, Dr. Isaac Osew Larbi on behalf of his colleague indicated that, the furniture situation in the schools is worrying and expressed gratitude to the MCE for such initiative adding that the furniture would go a long way to enhance teaching and learning in schools.
