Bishop John Yaw Adu, the founder and leader of New Jerusalem Chapel (NJC), has revealed that the introduction of the Free Senior High School (SHS) programme has significantly reduced incidents of armed robbery among the youth.
In a recent interview on Kingdom FM, Bishop Adu explained that his support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia stems from the positive impact of the FSHS policy.
According to him, the initiative has provided numerous opportunities for young people, leading many to abandon criminal activities.
“I firmly support this government because of the Free Senior High School initiative. When was the last time you heard about armed robbery? Many of the street children have returned to school, thanks to FSHS. The Free SHS programme has been of tremendous benefit to Ghana,” Bishop Adu stated.
He also shared some notable achievements of students who benefited from the programme. For example, students from Obuasi Senior Technical School developed a dialysis machine for kidney patients.
Additionally, students from Afia Kobi Senior High School in the Ashanti Region created an aircraft and an outboard motor. Bishop Adu emphasised that these remarkable innovations are a direct result of the FSHS policy.
The bishop concluded by noting that the Free Senior High School program has had a profound impact on Ghana’s education system, which has, in turn, elevated the country as one with the best educational system in Africa.
