Bishop Sam Owusu calls for unity among Christian churches to contribute to national development

Bishop Sam Owusu has urged Christian churches in Ghana to unite and form a National Commission of Christian Churches.

This initiative aims to harness the collective resources and expertise of various denominations to drive positive change in the country.

Here are the key areas of impact:

Promoting Interfaith Dialogue: Building bridges between Christian denominations and other religious organizations to foster peace and understanding.

Addressing Socio-Economic Issues: Collaborating with government agencies, civil society, and other stakeholders to tackle pressing concerns like illegal mining (galamsey), education, and healthcare.

Empowering Youth and Women: Providing platforms for youth and women to participate in decision-making processes and promoting their rights and empowerment.

The Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), established in 1929, has already made significant strides in fostering ecumenism and addressing socio-economic issues, with 26 member churches and three Christian organizations working together.

The Pentecostal Council of Ghana and the Charismatic Churches Council of Ghana also play vital roles.

Churches can contribute to Ghana's development through various initiatives, such as supporting education and healthcare programs, providing aid for vulnerable communities and investing in economic empowerment projects.

By uniting under a National Commission, Christian churches can amplify their impact and contribute meaningfully to Ghana's growth and development.
