Bishop blames youth unemployment on educational system

Koforidua, July 30, GNA - The Anglican Bishop of the Koforidua Diocese, the Right Reverend Benjamin Francis Quashie, has blamed the high graduate and youth unemployment on the educational system of the country.

He explained that, the educational system often taught the youth to look up to others to help them resolve problems that they should and did not encourage them to have confidence to think and act independently. Rt. Rev. Quashie appealed to parents and teachers to encourage the youth to develop self-confidence and to be independent to face the challenges of the time.

He was preaching at the Koforidua St. Peter's Cathedral during the confirmation of 22 young men and women into the Church at Koforidua, on Sunday.

Rt. Rev. Quashie said God had given Ghanaians all that they needed to live better, adding that, it was left was for Ghanaians was to believe that they had the capacity to change their situation for the better without looking on others for their survival and to face challenges.

Bishop Quashie said he was not enthused about the Debt Cancellation and the funfair about the Millennium Challenge Accounts because no matter the amount of money pump into the Ghanaian economy, unless the citizens developed the notion of self reliance and put an end to the belief that their survival depended on others, nothing much could be achieved.
