Agroyesum (Ash), Aug 5, GNA - The Most Reverend Thomas Kwaku Mensah, the Catholic Bishop of Obuasi, has cautioned Catholic priests that Church would deal ruthlessly with any clergy caught making visa deals.

Bishop Mensah gave the warning when he ordained five deacons, into the priesthood at the Saint Anthony Catholic Church at Agroyesum in the Amansie West District last Sunday. They are Rev Fr Simon Atta Denechira, Rev Fr Martin Atta Denechira, Rev Fr George Owoahene Acheampong Marfo, Rev Fr Christopher Antwi-Boasiako and Rev Fr Clifford Dorkenoo. He said "Catholic priests are ordained to preach the gospel of Christ and not to become passport and visa contractors".

Bishop Mensah told the newly ordained priests that priesthood was a challenging call which demanded sacrifice and dedicated services at all times. He said though they would encounter difficulties in their work they would be expected to work hard, be truthful, tactful to proclaim the gospel to win more souls for Christ.

Nana Opiah Mensah, Werempehene of the Manso-Nkwanta Traditional Area, expressed appreciation to the Catholic Church for contributing to the development of education.
