Whenever you hear about Black Friday, I assume it's shopping time for you! Black Friday has evolved into a global shopping event, with many businesses around the world discounting their goods and services to attract shoppers.

Black Friday falls on the day after Thanksgiving in the United States. This traditionally marks the beginning of the Christmas shopping season as people stock up for the holidays.

In Ghana, both retailers and wholesalers of beauty care products, hair accessories, dresses, home appliances, and more have already started their Black Friday sales.

Hundreds of shoppers often clash at odd hours to line up for the sales before the scheduled date and time, thinking they are the first to arrive. The prices of the goods are discounted, making this the ideal time for people to purchase items on a budget.

With the advent of technology, sellers also organise online sales for those who cannot visit in person or to prevent chaotic scenes at their shops.

While you wait for the "big day" tomorrow - November 29, 2024 - to buy items for Christmas, and New Year celebrations or to spruce up your home, here are some tips to make the most of Black Friday deals this year:

Planning:

There's a saying that goes, "If you snooze, you lose." If you don't plan what you want, you might end up buying unnecessary items. Make a list of the items you want to buy and research the vendors you want to purchase from.

Compare Prices:

Compare the prices of different vendors to ensure you get the best deal. Jot down or save photos of the items you want to buy after determining which one offers the best value.

Set a Budget:

Decide how much you are willing to spend during the Black Friday sales. Knowing the items you want to buy helps you set a budget, including estimated prices and a contingency.

Prepare for Online Shopping:

For online shoppers, ensure you have a stable internet connection to purchase and pay for your selected items through secured websites.

Also, load your mobile money wallets (MoMo) to take advantage of the best offers before they run out.

Finally, be cautious of scammers and opt for payment on delivery when in doubt.

Happy shopping! And remember to spread joy during the holiday season.
