The Founder and Leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana, Kofi Akpaloo says Ghanaians should blame former President John Dramani Mahama for all the hardship the country is facing now.

According to him, “Nobody should blame the current government for Ghana’s problems. The problems have been there; Nana Addo inherited the problems and trying all his possible best to solve the situation we are in now”.

The outburst by the Liberal Party follows recent developments in Ghana's economic and socio-economic challenges - the continuous plunge in the cedi, the fall in investor confidence among others.

Speaking in an interview on NEAT FM’s morning show ‘Ghana Montie’, Mr Akpaloo argued that, Mahama’s decision to consider the macro-economic program with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) is what is hunting the country.

He described as “poor” and “disastrous” some policies implemented by the then NDC government led by John Mahama.

“All that we are going through now is because of John Mahama, a bad leader who doesn’t deserve another chance to rule this country again,” he said.

Commenting on the fuel price hike, Mr Akpaloo said “Don’t blame this government for the fuel price hike. We don’t ‘cook’ petrol here in Ghana. This is a global issue, it’s beyond Ghana. But because of cheap political talks the NPP and NDC always use to win elections, Ghanaians will always blame them."
