The leader of the All People’s Congress (APC), Hassan Ayariga, has criticized President Nana Akufo Addo and his government for the current economic hardships being faced by Ghanaians.

According to him, the President has resorted to reckless economic decisions so far in his tenure, with the most recent being the decision to build a National Cathedral.

Speaking at a news conference, the leader of the APC called on government to channel the nation’s resources into job creation to curb the high unemployment rate in the country.

“Mr. President, the collapse of the seven banks is not as a result of an act of lawlessness of the banks, but the act of lawlessness of your government and the gross political incompetence of your appointees. These banks collapsed as a result of your refusal to pay your debts to Ghanaian contractors.”

Speaking on the double-track system Senior High School system, which is currently being implemented in some SHSs across the country, the APC leader described the system as a ‘traffic light system’ and called for a broader national dialogue to address the concerns expressed about the policy.

PRESS CONFERENCE BY THE FOUNDER AND LEADER OF THE ALL PEOPLE’S CONGRESS; (APC) HASSAN AYARIGA ON THE CURRENT STATE OF GHANA’S AFFAIRS ON TUESDAY 18TH OF SEPTEMBER 2018

China is taking over the African countries of which Ghana will be the next country to enter into a reckless agreement with China.

President Nana Addo was recently in China to negotiate a 100-year bond agreement with China worth about $50 billion. The China I know has no free lunch for any country. We have had enough of China already. They have taken over our country’s land and are polluting our water bodies with reckless abandon and shooting and maltreating our citizens. If we are so desperate for loans, should it be from China?

The National Cathedral

The current regime is working assiduously to establish a national Cathedral which is needless, to say the least, generating unnecessary tension. We are being told that our Judges would be evicted from their newly built bungalows to pave the way for the construction of the National Cathedral. Are we serious in this country?

Is our most pressing need a National Cathedral? The current state of many roads in Ghana are worsened, this current administration has deserted some very important road projects for no reason, yet we are planning on demolishing various properties to build a national Cathedral. Should we build a Cathedral at a time?

The Consolidation of Local Banks

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has attributed the recent collapse of some seven indigenous banks in the country to the malfunctioning of the law in the country.

The effects of these acts of lawlessness, the President said, “have been, invariably, the loss, and threat of loss, of innocent depositor’s savings and jobs.”

Mr. Akufo-Addo was speaking at the 2018 Annual Conference of the Ghana Bar Association, on 10th September 2018, when he made this statement.

He stated, in his address, that one apparent restraint to Ghana’s progress, i.e., the missing link in the country’s governance system, which hampers the rapid economic development we seek, is the deficit in the application of the rule of law.

He continued, “It has to do with driving recklessly, and breaking all the traffic regulations and trying to bribe the police when you are pulled up. It has to do with not getting the

Our importers and people in business are struggling because of the free fall of our local currency, yet we were being told by Dr. Bawumia during the NPP’s celebration of its first 100 days in office that the dollar has been arrested and the keys handed over to the IGP. One now needs about GHC5:00 for just one dollar. I’m sure he now knows the Cedi is on bail.

The dollar now has a mind of its own, and it’s not a respecter of Dr. Bawumia. What is happening to the lengthy economic lectures and forums from the Oxford-trained economist-Dr Bawumia? My older brother.

Where are the answers to the one hundred and seventy (170) so-called economic questions on Ghana’s economy?

What is happening to our Ghana’s cedi and Ghanaian banks under the most intelligent and competent economist who almost turned to a self-acclaimed prophet of Ghana’s economic fundamentals?

“If your fundamentals are weak, the exchange rate would expose you” according to Dr. Bawumia

The Embattled free SHS

I understand the traffic lights system has now engulfed our Second Cycle Educational system whereby batch green will be in school for four months while batch gold will stay home for four months and as for batch red, in limbo. Is this how we intend to gamble with the future of the next generation?

Ghana was not ready for the free SHS implementation, and I have always said it. We told you to rethink with your free SHS decision; you but like a teenager that has found the keys to the liquor cabinet you never listened, the consequences is now clear for us to see. This is just year two and we are already constraint by infrastructure, the government has no tangible scheme to implement the construction of additional classrooms and dormitories, and I can bet you that we will soon arrive at a triple track and possibly a quadruple track system.

How can our secondary school kids attend school in this country for four months and stay at home for another four months? Won’t they forget what they learned? Won’t truant girls get pregnant? Shouldn’t parents who will be able to afford fees pay for their wards fees while the government concentrates on those who cannot afford? There is preferential treatment everywhere, isn’t it?

We need a National forum to dialogue more on the free SHS, and while at that; Dr. Hassan Ayariga wants to know what happened to the 200 Community Day Senior High Schools the previous government initiated? I understand about 75 were completed and handed over to the NPP government, what of the remaining uncompleted ones? Mr. President, kindly complete those projects. Governance is a continuous business, you come, you serve, then you go! Another government comes to continue from where you stopped. It is as simple as that.

Era Of Vigilante Groups

Fellow Ghanaians, it seems like our dear country has suddenly metamorphosed into what can be rightly called a Nation of the Vigilantes, by the Vigilantes and for the Vigilantes. The security of this country has deteriorated beyond reasonable doubts! Criminals are now protected by Nolle Prosequi, miscreants are now hugely encouraged, criminality has been entrenched by subtle executive order, and the consequences are that even our courts of law are now threatened.
