The Ghana National Trust Fund and the Ghana Society for the blind have presented farming inputs valued at about 600,000 cedis to two trained blind farmers in the Birim South District at Akim Oda. The items comprised Wellington boots, hand gloves, garden forks, rain coats, watering cans, hoes, cutlasses, and wheel barrows. Mrs.. Victoria D. Bonso, Executive Director of the Ghana society for the blind, presented the items and cash of 100,000 cedis each on behalf of the two organisations. She advised them to use the items to raise their living standards. Meanwhile, Nana Adomako-Ansah, a physiotherapist based in Canada has commended the Birim South District Branch of the Ghana Association of the blind for its efforts to establish a cottage industry in the area. He said with the fast disintegration of the family system, the project will enable the blind to fend for themselves. Nana Adomako-Ansah promised to supply them with white canes to enhance their free movement and to solicit for funds from non-governmental organisations when he returned to Canada for their upkeep. Mr.. Yaw Ofori-Debrah appealed for assistance from philanthropists for the take-off of the association's soap making venture at Akim Swedru.
