Member of Parliament of Tema East, Nii Kwartei Titus Glover has condemned the actions of the Minority in Parliament describing the Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon,Lydia Alhassan as a “bloody widow”.

He described the action as unparliamentary, and totally unacceptable adding that the Minority will stay in opposition for a long time if they continue with such character.

He was speaking on the back of the Minority’s refusal to apologise to the Lydia Alhassan, and the Majority in parliament.

“Few days ago when Muntaka, the Minority Chief Whip made his application to the speaker of parliament over the conduct of Ken Agyapong not even in the chamber, but quoting the statutory authorities of the standing orders to back his claim, the speaker could have thrown him out but look at their conduct they boldly stood on there and told the first deputy speaker on his face that are they are not going to respect it."

“…it is her (Lydia Alhassan) circumstance that led to her coming to parliament at least they could have thought wise and not to go the way they went”

"…what the Minority did yesterday was unparliamentary and totally unacceptable they should have that courage to tell Mr. Speaker we are sorry then we move on. They will stay long in position with this character,” He added.

The Minority refused to apologise to the new Member of Parliament for Ayawaso West Wuogon, Lydia Alhasssan after First Deputy Speaker, Joe Osei Owusu urged them to.

The Minority argued that the using of placards in the chamber was allowed adding that the leadership of the Minority cannot apologise on behalf of members.

The speaker revised his request and ordered the clerk to parliament to present a tape of the placards display to enable them fish out Members of the house who held the “bloody widow placard to possibly drag them before the privileges committee.
