Boakye Djan to contest Election 2008

NPP & NDC are ethnic-based -Gyan
Accra, Jan.7, GNA- Major Boakye Djan, (RTD), 62, Spokesman of the erstwhile Armed Forces Revolutionary Council, has announced his intention to contest Election 2008, as a presidential candidate for a unified Nkrumaist's front.

The retired army officer, who now goes by the name Osahene Boakye Djan announced his political ambition in a press release he issued to the Ghana News Agency on Saturday from London.

He said in June 2005, he declared publicly that, Ghana's democratic drive was heading towards a serious national crisis.

Osahene Boakye Djan said the voting trend for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the main opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) had been ethnic based, thus, creating "an unhealthy politics of alternate regional domination and regional challenge".

"Regional ethnic interests rather than Ghana's national interest have been allowed to become the dividing line in Ghana's political party elections and NDC/ NPP interests in regional ethnic politics have led to their complete national neglect and failure to attend to lawlessness, corruption, escalating poverty and the rapidly disappearing confidence in our national ability to live and survive, as one people in one nation," he noted.

Osahene Boakye Djan said only an Nkrumaist government could pull Ghana out of its past and current ethnic strife that had thrown many African countries into chaos and regenerate the country with fresh thinking and fresh start for the politics of national revival for an increasing standard of life for all.

He observed that the past and current electoral record of national appeal, spread of representation and development of Nkrumaists provided fresh thinking and start for Ghana.

Osahene Boakye Djan said since Ghanaians were prepared to vote into office an Nkrumaist government in Election 2008 on a platform of a united front of Nkrumaists, he as a person with a national political stature was qualified to lead them.
" I am the only such person available in the Nkrumaist political family able to lead Nkrumaists to election victory. I hereby inform you all that I have decided to stand for president in the forthcoming 2008 national elections and lead a programme for the election of an Nkrumaist government in January 2009."
"May the Almighty God and father of all spirits; may the merciful and Compassionate Allah; may our ancestors, bless you, bless Ghana our homeland and bless us all in our diverse efforts to win together this great cause for the common good of all Ghanaians," he said. Osahene Boakye Djan attached an elaborate Curriculum Vitae to the press release that described him as a Soldier, Journalist, Writer, Publisher, Financial Advisor, Pro-democracy and Human Rights Campaigner and a Keep Fit Devotee.
He is a member of the Royal African Society in London, which specialises in African affairs in the global context. Osahene Boakye Djan is the Executive Chairman of Boakye Djan and Co: Public Policy Consultants.
