Mr Samuel Kweku Obodai, Chairman of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Road Transport and MP for the area, announced this when he addressed a durbar of the Chiefs and the people of Upper Bobikuma to mark their annual Akwambo festival, at Bobikuma.

He said the contract was terminated following persistent petitions from the chiefs of Bobikuma and Kwaman to the President and the Central Regional Minister, about the delay by the contractor.

Mr Obodai said the Parliamentary Select Committee was forced to move to the site to see how best to solve the problem as a result of the pressure.

He said that the contract had to be terminated when the Committee met the contractor and stated that the project would be repackaged and re-awarded to another contractor to ensure its early completion. The MP called for peace and unity between the people of Agona Abodom and Upper Bobikuma to ensure the speedy execution of the contract and appealed to the Omanhene of the Nyakrom Traditional Area, Nana Okatakyi Nyakoh Eku X, to solve the chieftaincy dispute at Agona Abodom, which was impeding development.

He commended the Agona Abodom Youth Association for initiating development projects in spite of the chieftaincy dispute and appealed to the Omanhene to liase with kingmakers to install a new chief to promote the socio-economic advancement of the town.

Mr Twumasi Ampofo, Deputy Minister of Education, Science and Sports and MP for Nkransa South, on behalf of the Minister, Paapa Owusu Ankomah, announced that the government would absorb the Bobikuma Community Secondary School to ease the financial burden on the chiefs and the people.

He stressed the government's commitment to ensure that every child had access to quality education.
