Bolgatanga, Jan. 19, GNA - Six people, who were alleged to have been involved in the communal violence between Bukere and Soe, both suburbs of Bolgatanga, were on Thursday remanded by the Bolgatanga Circuit Court, presided by Mr Imoro Ziblim.
The six who have been placed in custody at the Navrongo Prisons, are Mr Evans Ayingorah, an interdicted Policeman, Mr Philip Azangolo, houseboy, Mr Nsobila Alantara, a store boy, Mr Ben Bopom, driver, Mr Osmanu Azare, also a driver and Mr Rockson Ame-Etigo, trader. Prosecuting, Police Inspector Samuel Kpogo told the Court that on January 15 of 2006, at about 15.30 hours, there was a communal violence between the Youth of Bukere and Soe in which a 15-year-old JSS girl called Lamisi Apambila was shot dead by an unidentified person and ten people also wounded through gun shots.
The Prosecutor stated that the injured were responding to treatment at the Bolgatanga hospital whilst the deceased person had been transferred to the Tamale hospital for autopsy.
He said during police investigation, the six people who were alleged to have been involved in the rioting were arrested for causing unlawful damage and for the murder of the 15-year-old JSS girl. He indicated that the accused persons had been remanded in custody to facilitate police investigations into the case.
