The Bolgatanga Naaba, Naaba Martin Adongo Abilba III, has expressed profound confidence in the leadership of the New Patriotic Party and its Presidential ticket for the December General Elections, describing the NPP as a very able team which would work hard for Ghana and the people of the Upper East Region, specifically.
Naaba Martin Adongo Abilba III was speaking at his palace, yesterday, during a courtesy call on him by NPP Vice-Presidential Candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and a host of other dignitaries from the New Patriotic Party.
In welcoming and expressing his delight at the presence of Dr. Bawumia, the Bolga Naaba said “for this young man, we know you are in the right place. I know that the team of the NPP is an able team, a very very able team and certainly come December, you would carry the day.
We as chiefs are supposed not to climb political stages and engage in active politics but we know too well where we came from and where we want to go,” he said.
The Bolgatanga Naaba played glowing tribute to the erstwhile NPP administration of President John Agyekum Kufuor and then Vice-President Aliu Mahama for the development they brought to the Bolgatanga Municipality and the Upper East Region as a whole.
He cited the Upper East Regional Hospital and the Bolgatanga Polytechnic whose structures were wholly developed by the Kufuor Administration though the first NDC administration enacted the law establishing the polytechnic in 1999.
“We of the Upper East are not strangers to the good work of the NPP, we know of the Regional Hospital and the Bolgatanga Polytechnic which is truly one of the best Polytechnics in the country,” he said.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on his part pledged that the Nana Akufo-Addo administration would work tirelessly to improve on the livelihoods of the ordinary Ghanaian and use the resources of the country for the development of its various regions and communities.
He pledged that the NPP was very much committed to prioritizing Northern development so as to bridge the gap between the North and the South in the shortest possible time.
He said that one of the main pillars the NPP was going to employ in bridging the gap between the North and South and in improving on the living conditions of the people of the North is agriculture, and said the NPP would aggressively develop dams and irrigation facilities in the north to boost agriculture.
Dr. Bawumia was accompanied to the Bolgatanga Municipality on the first day of his Upper East tour by former Vice-President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Sheik T B Damba, 2nd National Chairman of the NPP, Hajia Alima Mahama, former Minister and Member of Parliament, Hon. Kofi Adda, Member of Parliament for Navrongo Central and former Minister of State and Parliamentary candidate of the NPP for the Bolgatanga constituency, Dr. Gheysika Adombire Agambila.
