Bolgatanga, Feb.17, GNA- The Association of Motor Mechanics in the Upper East Region was at the weekend inaugurated to promote solidarity and hardwork work amongst motor mechanics in the region. The chairman of the Association, Mr. David Ansoh, said the key objective of the association was to unite its members and provide security and protection for members as well as provide jobs for the youth in the area.
Mr. Ansoh said the association placed emphasis on discipline, and said it intends to formulate strong policies to regulate the activities of members. Personnel from the Upper East Regional Police Command, Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Abdulia Mumuni, advised the mechanics to acquire life insurance policy and proper drivers' licence to protect them in case of accidents.
He urged them to respect traffic regulations and said the law would not condone with carelessness on the road. Chief Inspector of Police Michael Asamoah asked the mechanics to be law abiding to help promote their businesses and told them that the mechanic profession was lucrative and could make life better for them if they gave attention to the profession. He appealed to them desist from negative attitudes such as selfishness lackadaisical attitude towards work, laziness and work hard for self development to achieve greater heights.
