Residents of Bontibor in the Nkwanta South district of the Oti Region have joined the list of beneficiaries of the Cowbell borehole project after a sod-cutting ceremony.
Prior to the intervention from Cowbell, the residents relied on maggot-infested water which posed major dangers to their health.
Speaking at a brief ceremony on behalf of Promasidor Ghana (Producers of Cowbell), Export Manager - Mr Jean Claude and the Sales Control Manager - Mr Happy Dzah re-emphasised the commitment by Cowbell to continuously invest in community support initiatives for which reason the brand embarked on this project.
They further re-echoed the timeliness of this project as it will help the fight against COVID-19. Both managers admonished residents to ensure maintenance of the borehole for long term use.
Addressing the gathering, the Assemblyman of Bontibor recounted the ordeal community members faced in finding water prior to the Cowbell borehole project.
These challenges include water-borne diseases liked diarrhoea, cholera and trekking long distance to fetch water just to name a few.
He also took the opportunity to thank the brand for the support and called for similar support for other nearby communities.
The Cowbell borehole project is a community support initiative by the brand to construct 20 boreholes in selected deprived communities across the country that had no access to safe drinking water.
The project forms part of the 20th-anniversary celebration activities of the Cowbell brand which started in the year 2019.
