Kumasi, 5th December 2010: The much anticipated book, Sociology and Spirituality of Life has officially been launched in a graceful ceremony in Kumasi over the weekend. The 282 page book full of revealing and practical life-changing wisdom is authored by one of Ghana’s finest Senior lecturers at the Faculty of Science of the KNUST and a Sociological Evangelist, Kojo Wireko-Brobby. Launched at the Catholic Social Centre in Kumasi, the book makes a bold attempt to study man, the society in which he lives and the spirituality of life. The author discusses the various forms of marriage, lineages and divorces as well the role of the Church in society and, further explains the connection between spirituality and suicides.

Inspired by a decade of the author’s presentation of programmes on radio stations in which the citizens of Kumasi enjoy listening to, the book seeks to shape man’s understanding of himself and his social environment. It practically deals with the role of religion and how, the Christian religion specifically, can shape a person’s attitudes and orientation to impact positively on his life and hereafter. In his remarks about the book, the Catholic Archbishop Emeritus of Kumasi, His Grace Most Reverend Peter Kwasi Sarpong notes that ‘I have read every word in Sociology and Spirituality of Life. It is excellent, very scholarly, instructive and informative. The range of people who can and should profit from its reading is very wide indeed. The book is very good; it is extremely useful and gives meaning to human existence’. The ceremony pulled hundreds of people to the Catholic Social Centre including Most Reverend Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, Sir Banahene, Chief of Staff to Otumfour Osei Tutu II, Dr. Kwame Addo-Kuffour, Former Minister of Defence of the erstwhile Kufour administration and other distinguished guests. Kojo Wireko-Brobby in his presentation focuses on the reader and uses simple literary illustrations and diagrams to explain the subject matter to the understanding of the reader.
