Boso-Gua (Eastern Region) - The Omanhene of the Boso-Gua Traditional Area, Okotwasuo Osei Nyarko 111, has reminded his people that democracy is not a licence for undisciplined behaviour towards authority and abuse of the norms of society.
He appealed to chiefs in the area to revive cultural norms and sanctions that promote respect for authority and peace. Nana Nyarko said this when the new chief of Tosen and Nifahene of the Traditional Area, Nana Som Asare Kwadwo 111, and the Queen mother, Nana Ansah, swore the oath of allegiance to him at Boso-Gua in the Asuogyaman District of the Eastern Region on Monday.
He expressed concern about the rising level of immoral behaviour among the people including wee-smokers and appealed to chiefs to help check the tendency by imposing traditional sanctions.
Nana Nyarko asked them to support the government's efforts at raising the living standards of the people by embarking on self-help projects. "Those who fail to adhere to the new order of progress will be left behind."
Speaking to newsmen later, Nana Ansah, who is an Administrative Officer at the Eastern Regional Directorate of Education at Koforidua, said she would work towards promoting girl-child education in the town.
