Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma receives 150 million cedis for AIDS campaign

The government has released 150 million cedis to the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Assembly to support HIV/AIDS campaign in the district.

Mr Bright Addai Mununkum, the Bosomtwe-Atwima-Kwanwoma District Chief Executive (DCE), who announced this, said government had pledged to release an additional 100 million cedis for the exercise.

He said this when he interacted with the chiefs and people of Homabenase, Tetrefu, Awiem and Sewua-Aboabo, as part of a day's tour of the communities.

The DCE said agreement for the release of the 100 million cedis would be signed by next week.

He said 10 community-based organisations had registered with the District Assembly to undertake campaign programmes for combating the HIV/AIDS in the district.

The DCE said campaign messages might not achieve the desired results if people did not fully commit themselves to exercising self-control over their sexual desires.

Mr Mununkum appealed to landlords to contact the Water and Sanitation Committee at the District Assemblies so that they could be assisted with household latrines.

Mr Kweku Antwi, assemblyman for Tetrefi/Homabenase, appealed to the assembly to extend it scholarship schemes to the villages instead of limiting it to towns in the district.

Nana Kusi Fosu II, Krontihene of Homabenase, appealed to the government to provide the people with potable water and rehabilitate the roads in the area to facilitate the carting of foodstuffs to marketing centres.
