Boston College in US to train over 100 Ghanaian pupils in computer literacy

Ejisu(Ash) some students and lectures of Boston College in America are to train over one hundred Ghanain pupils and about twenty basic school teachers selected from all the basic schools in the Ejisu municipality in computer literacy later part of this month.

The program which aims to train the participants in basic facts and how to use some computer programmes will start from Monday, 26th July to Friday 6th August, 2010.

The Boston College is orgainsing the programme with some natives of Ejisu in the Ashanti Region and they are also the relatives of Dr. Kwasi Sarkodie-Mensah, manager in- charge of Instructional Services at Boston College Libraies.

The programme which will be held at the Spiritan University College at Ejisu has series of activities like community durbar, computer lessons and tour to some tourist centres in the Ashanti Region.

According to Mr. Kwame Kyeeremateng Mensah- Aborampah, Ghana Conutry Director of the programme siad this year's one is the seventh edition of the programme in the Ejisu Municipality and said the community durbar wioll be attended by the paramount chief of Ejisu, Nan Afrane Okese IV, Ejisu Juaben Municipal Director of Education,Mrs. Agnes Okyere Gyamfi, Ejisu Juaben Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Alhaji Mohammed Boakye Agyeman and Parents

He said that the priticipants have been selected from all the basic schools in the Ejisu municipality and they are not to pay any money for the programme since the total cost has been taken by the orgainsers.

He said that they are planning to give out at least one computer to schools whose pupils will take part in this programme.

He stated that the programme is to support the government effort to make teachoing and learning of computer in basic schools in the country more attractive and easy for both teachers and pupils.

At an orientation programme held at the Spiritant University College at Ejisu to prepare the pupils and thier teachers for the main programme, Mr. Kwame Kyeremateng Mensah- Aborampah, adivsed paerticipants to take the prgramme more serious and make good use of the students who will be coming from the Boston College to train them to improve thier performance in copmputting.

He commended the authorities of Ejisu Juaben Municipal Directorate of Education and parents for allowing thier children to take part in this year's programme.
