Juaso, the district capital of Asante-Akim South, was on Thursday thrown into a state of shock, disbelieve and grief, following a suicide committed by a minor.

The lifeless body of the boy, aged 14, was found dangling on a tree in the early hours of the morning.

He had gone missing since Tuesday and there were no clue of what might pushed him to take his own life.

According to his neighbours, he was very reserved and did not show any sign that he was in emotional distress.

His tearful mother, Madam Afia Teaa told Ghana News Agency, that the deceased had pounded fufu for her on Tuesday afternoon, after which he left the house and that was the last time he was seen.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Samuel Sandow Latebu, the District Police Commander, confirmed the incident and said an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the boy’s death.

The body has been deposited at a private mortuary at Yawkwei for autopsy.
