Tema, June 13, GNA - The Tema Police Command is investigating a case involving Kingsford Martey, 16, who was found sitting behind the steering wheel of a locked taxi under mysterious circumstances, on Monday morning. Martey and his grandmother were granted bail by the Mataheko Police near Afienya after he (boy) claimed he opened the car with a pen his grandmother gave to him.
Chief Inspector Olivia Turkson, Tema Police Command Public Relations Officer (PRO), told Ghana News Agency that the driver of the taxi, whose name she did not mention, had problems with the vehicle anytime he went to work even though there was no mechanical fault.
The Police PRO said that the taxi driver, who decided to seek divine intervention, was praying on Monday dawn and when he went near the taxi, he (driver) saw Martey sitting behind the steering wheel of the vehicle.
Chief Insp. Martey said the boy allegedly told the driver that his grandmother instructed him to bring the car to where 93witches" meet.
The Police PRO said that the driver raised the alarm and some neighbours assisted him to send the boy to the Police station.
Chief Insp. Turkson said at the Police station, Martey repeated what he told the driver in front of his grandmother, and handed over the pen he claimed he used to open the car to the Police.
The Police PRO said that Martey alleged that he and the grandmother were responsible for the sickness of his grandfather, who would have died in five days if he had succeeded in taking the car away.
Chief Insp. Turkson said that since the Police do not deal with spiritual matters, they were investigating the case.
She said that the boy has been handed over to the Domestic Violence Victim Support Unit for further investigations.
