Koforidua, Aug. 1, GNA- The Deputy National Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Mr. Baba Jamal has called on branch executives of the party to appreciate the power they wield in the party and make good use of that power.

He called on them to strategies to mobilize local resources to properly organize the activities of the party at their level to enable the party to grow stronger in all the branches because the final victory of the party depends on what happens at the branch levels. Mr Jamal was speaking at a mid-year review meeting of the Eastern Regional branch of the NDC in Koforidua.

He explained that by the organizational structure of the party, no matter the role that one plays in the affairs of the party, anybody who is a member of the party needs to be a paid up card bearing member of the party with the card issued by a branch of the party. Mr. Jamal said often, some members of the party do not take such issues serious but when it comes to legalities about who is a member of the party those were the deciding factors and therefore, advised the branch executives to jealously protect that authority given to them by the party.

He said with victory smiling at the party in 2008, the role of the branches in the victory of the party and the future government that would be formed by the party places a lot of privileges and responsibilities on the branches of the party. The Eastern Regional Secretary of the party, Mr Anthony Gyampoh urged constituency executives who were supervising the elections at the branches to submit documents of the conferences to the regional secretariat of the party.

He reminded them that such documentation were very important because those who would be elected as the branch executives would in future be deciding who would be the constituency executives and the Parliamentary candidates of the party. The Eastern Regional Organiser of NDC, Mr Tawiah Boateng, urged all constituency executives to ensure that they complete their branch elections and fix dates for their constituency conferences before the end of the month.

He said the Regional women and youth conferences would be organized by August 20 this year, while the national youth and women conferences would be organised in Bolgatanga in September, this year. Aug. 1, 2005
