Breman Asikuma (C/R) March 10 GNA - The Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Assembly
has prepared a comprehensive Youth Policy towards the holistic development of the youth
in the area. Mrs Georgina Nkrumah Aboah, the Asikuma-Odoben-Brakwa District Chief Executive,
said the policy provides guidelines for programmes, activities and services that would lead
to a consistent empowerment of the youth and build structures for the comprehensive
management of their activities. Commenting on theme for the 53rd Independence Anniversary, "Investing in the youth
for a better Ghana," she said the goal could not take place in a vacuum but required the
creation of a conducive environment with the active participation of the relevant
stakeholders. Mrs Aboah said since a well-informed youthful population is an asset for national
development the policy would satisfy that need.
"If the youth of today are trained to become responsible they will cultivate the virtue of
a very strong sense of civic responsibility and foster patriotism, which is an ingredient for
building a better Ghana," she stressed. Mrs Aboah said it is for these reasons that the National Democratic Congress included
the development of the youth in its Manifesto.
