The Police is in search of the leader of the New Vision Party, Prophet Daniel Nkansah in connection with allegations of bribery of two officers of the Electoral Commission.

Prophet Nkansah is alleged to have given two EC officials, one thousand, six hundred Ghana cedis (1,600) as deposit for a ten-thousand Ghana cedi bribery fee to secure his presidential candidature during the filling of nominations.

This has led to a bribery and corruption charge against the Director of Elections at the EC, Isaac Asumani and Director of Elections Logistic, Mr. Kissi who are alleged to have collected the money.

Speaking to XYZ News, the Public Relations Officer of the Greater Accra Regional Police Command, DSP Freeman Tettey said Prophet Nkansah is on the run for his involvement in the act.

“It revolves around him; he was alleged to have issued money to influence the two EC officials to register him and make a smooth passage for him to become the Presidential candidate and contest in the upcoming elections”.

But the leader of the New Vision Party in an interview with XYZ News said he has done nothing wrong to be wanted by the police.

Prophet Nkansah, who is in court over his disqualification in the presidential race, said his money offer to the EC officials was just a trap to expose them and to make Ghanaians know that the EC cannot be trusted with the December elections.

“We trapped them, we wanted to be sure that truly the EC takes bribe and if they take bribes then we cannot have free and fair elections in Ghana” Prophet Nkansah said.

Prophet Nkansah added “we don’t have the confidence in them now and I want the court to stop every process that the EC is doing because those who are going to handle this 2012 election are corrupt people”.
