British MP Visits Begoro

THE BRITISH Labour Member of Parliament (MP) for York City, Mr. Hugh Barley, who is a patron of York-Fanteakwa Community Linkage (YFCL), took time off his tight schedule to visit Begoro to acquaint himself with the linkage is faring.

He spent a night in Begoro and had dinner with the chiefs and officials of the Fanteakwa District Assembly (FDA) during which matters concerning the welfare of the committee were discussed as well as the strengthening of the linkage.

Barley was a member of the Commonwealth team which visited the group's sponsored-projects and programmes in Ghana recently.

At a mini-durbar at the Begorohene's palace, the vice-chairman of YFCL, Mr. Ebenezer Offoe Caesar, who is also the Fanteakwa District Chief Executive (DCE), appealed to the visiting MP for assistance to stock the newly completed community library at Begoro with books and computers.

The Ankobeahene of Begoro, Nana Gyamfi-Manfi, who deputized for the Begorohene, Osabarima Awua Kotoko, also appealed to Barley to assist schools in the area with teaching and learning aids to improve learning in the district.

Barley expressed appreciation for the kind hospitality of Begoroman, which made his visit to the area successful.

He was presented with a traditional stool with cocoa engravings which portray the culture of the people of Fanteakwa whiles he reciprocated the gesture by presenting a beautiful portrait of the millennium bridge in York which serve as a link between the two cities.

Barley also visited other places of interest.
